Remembering Our Veterans

Our military exhibit recognizes the service of local veterans and holds artifacts from the American Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam Conflict, and Persian Gulf War. The Museum honors the many members of the community and those across the country who have served in the armed forces throughout the nation’s history. Located on the upper level, this exhibit features military uniforms, photographs, and other equipment and memorabilia.
The Museum is privileged to be the permanent “home port” of the USS Charles R. Ware and houses an impressive collection of artifacts and mementos that belonged to the men who served on the destroyer. In 1945, the Gearing Class destroyer was named after Lt. Charles R. Ware (1911-1942) in honor of his “extraordinary heroism” during World War II. Learn more about the USS Charles R. Ware here.
